Olin Library Hosted Program on Zora Neale Hurston

February 01, 2010

To celebrate the legacy of Zora Neale Hurston in Central Florida and her historical connections with Rollins College, Olin Library has become a co-sponsor of the year-long Zora Reading Collaborative with several other libraries and cultural organizations in the region.

On Jan. 27, Library Archives & Special Collections hosted a large group of visitors from the Zora Cosmos Mobile Tour, where Professor of English Maurice O'Sullivan, Kenneth Curry Professor of English, presented his research on Hurston's performances at Rollins in the early 1930s and her impact on the College, students and the community. The program has been well received, and was described by attendees as an “enlightening” and “eye-opening” experience and a historical value.
