During the 82nd annual convention of the Southern States Communication Association, held April 11-15 in San Antonio, TX, five members of the department of communication presented a panel discussion titled, "Big World, Small Campus: Developing a Communication Studies Major for the 21st Century Liberal Arts Institution."

Participating faculty were Lecturer Greg Cavenaugh, Professor Greg Gardner, Associate Professor Sue Easton, Lecturer John Morrison, and Lecturer Carolyn Planck.

The roundtable discussion focused on the challenges facing communication administrators in small, private liberal arts colleges despite the relevance of communication studies for students in the 21st century.
