Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance David Charles opened his original children's production That Seventies Show: Winter Park on November 5. This world premier, commissioned by the Winter Park Historical Association, features a guitar-strumming character from the past (Delta Dawn or Sunny Day) who invites the audience into her living room and back to a simpler peace-loving time. Through interactive song, games and stories she recreates the spirit of the seventies, providing a glimpse into the history of Winter Park along the way. Incorporating song parodies and spontaneous stories, the playful show is never quite the same twice. This free performance series is the first collaboration of its kind for the Winter Park Historical Association. Designed for children from ages 2 to 6 (and their young-at-heart parents) performances are scheduled for Wednesday mornings and the first Saturday of the month at 10:00am.
